Renovation of historic vehicles
We have extensive experience in the restoration of historic vehicles that require specific procedures and handling. The best reference in this respect is the reconstruction and restoration of the Slovenská strela, where the work was particularly precise and required cooperation with historians and conservationists, as it is a building with the status of a National Cultural Monument
Work on the Slovenská Strela (Slovak Arrow) lasted from August 2018 to October 2020 and employees of the ČMŽO Group spent more than 60 thousand hours repairing this unique vehicle. The specialists made very interesting findings during their work. The overall lightness of the construction was exceptional, the fight for every gram of weight could be seen behind the solutions used. Due to the status of a National Cultural Monument, each element was photographed separately during the dismantling and provided with a sticker with its own marking. In total, approximately 45 thousand photos were taken during the dismantling. The wiring was also a challenge, especially the part of the Sousedík drive.
During the work, curious relics of the past were also found. A 3x3 cm sample of the original upholstery was discovered on the driver's seat in the overlay of the upholstery. An original newspaper from 1936 with an easy-to-read text was found on the wall panelling, and a small fragment of the original red colour of the interior clung to it. In the autumn of 2020, Slovenská Strela was returned to its owners in its original form, full strength and operational.
